SolarEdge Key is a service tool that enables performance optimisers with the independent optimisation technology IndOP ™ to communicate with third-party inverters without the installation of an additional interface.
To ensure a safe voltage during installation, all SolarEdge power optimisers with activated SafeDC ™ function are provided: When these power optimisers are connected to a PV module, they deliver a safe DC voltage of 1 V until they are powered by an inverter or coupled by the safety and monitoring interface from SolarEdge until the energy is absorbed.
If PV strings with power optimizers without the safety and monitoring interface are directly connected to a third-party inverter, the SafeDC must be deactivated by the SolarEdge key before the string is connected to the inverter.
